Songtreads, Bluestone, and the Gate Song

Return to Halden at level 25, win Shax's race for Songtreads, jump the crystal gap, and later learn Song of Passage for sigil doors.

Boots before the gap

The Ocarina does not make the Bluestone jump. After you have it:

  1. Reach level 25 or higher.
  2. Return to Halden at the campfire and talk to him. The level alone does not finish Tamer in Training.
  3. Follow A Leg Up to Songwalker Shax, near the Grove Lift. Start Quick on Your Feet and win the race.
  4. Collect Songtreads. The Songwalker badge marks that unlock.

Open the backpack with G, or the mobile bag, and select the Songtreads tile under Core. Glowing boots and notes at your feet mean they are active. If you hold another item and the glow vanishes, select the boots again at the ledge.

The Approach jump

Leave the Grove on the blue-purple stone path and wait for the Bluestone Approach banner. The Verdant Grotto by the waterfall is not the cavern mouth. At the grassy ledge facing a cave framed by large blue crystals, line up with the far landing, run with W, press Space at the edge, and keep holding W. Then look for the Bluestone Caverns title and Beyond the Grove.

If you fall short, reselect the boots and take a longer run-up. The first boots are a running jump. They are not the later double jump.

Deeper gates are different obstacles

Dynamite wall. Inside the caverns, a blocked-wall quest can ask for dynamite. On one recorded route this opened at level 39. The seller near the start quoted 8,000 Chimes. Deliver it to the miner and wait for the wall. The Sorin's Respite banner confirms entry. This is not a song door.

The Scratched Score. In Sorin's Respite, examine the scratched wall before you grind, so the counters exist. The recorded objectives are: 6 different Respite Scrooms, 25 perfect catches there, a Sagebell at 400 Hz or higher, a Kitsura at 800 Hz or higher, and level 56. Return to the wall. The run shows Song of Passage unlocking. Level 56 alone does not.

Sigil door. Equip the Ocarina, select Song of Passage, and play F, S, A, W, F if that is the sequence on the menu. The first success awards Open Sesame. Homeward Melody sends you home instead. The dynamite wall will not open for this song.

Echo Step is a second race

After Sanctum Magus progress, Shax can offer a longer race outside that area. The recorded reward is Echo Step: with Songtreads equipped, jump, then jump again in the air. The same run uses that double jump toward Tall Trees. The exact requirements for the second race are not fully listed. Tall Trees is this route's destination. It is not one of the five Index areas that already have species pages.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there SCROOMS codes?

No redeemable code string is documented, and launch guides do not show a redemption button. Catch, sell, and finish quests for Chimes. If a later creator post gives an exact string and the game shows a place to enter it, use that string only.

Who sells the Tamer's Guitar, Julian or Jane?

The opening tutorial uses Julian at a wooden stall for the sale and a 100-Chime guitar. A stall walkthrough names Jane, by a treble-clef sign near the red houses, as the seller of that guitar, the Adventurer's Tambourine, and the Violin of Pilgrimage. Follow the name printed on the prompt in your session.

What notes play Homeward Melody?

On the Ocarina, play Left, Down, Up, Left. The song returns you to the spawn you have set. That is not always the original Grove spawn.

Does Luck show my chance to catch a rare Scroom?

No. Luck is described as rare attraction. A printed +5% or +40% is an equipment value, not a measured chance for a named species.

Is The Undergarden already a released area?

The experience listing names The Undergarden Beneath the Grove for October 24, 2026, with a notify action. That is an announced event. It is not a released patch walkthrough.
