Five Grove Statues and the Ocarina

Pay Respects at five Grove statues in any order, return to Halden, and play Homeward Melody as Left, Down, Up, Left.

Find Halden first

Finish the guitar tutorial, then look for Halden on a log by a campfire and red tents. The quest is The Next Step. He asks you to find five weathered statues, pay your respects, listen, and return. Visiting him is part of the quest, not a statue.

Five stops, any order

Use E on PC for Pay Respects. Standing nearby does not count. A house visit or a sale at the front of the shop does not count. Statues may hold different instruments and may sit or stand. The pedestal and the prompt matter more than a matching pose.

Stop Landmark
1 Beside Cal's house
2 Between Luca's house and Bennie's house
3 By the large brown tree, between the waterfall and Beekeeper Jones
4 Behind the seller's shop near spawn, not at the counter
5 Near Songwalker Shax and the Grove Lift

If one respect is still missing, revisit the landmark you are least sure about. Buying a catching instrument does not complete this quest.

Take the Ocarina

Return to Halden. Accept the gift. He gives the Ocarina and the Magic Melody badge. It appears on hotbar slot 5. The use line describes channeling a song to interact with the world. If slot 5 is empty, finish this turn-in. The Ocarina is not on the instrument stall.

Homeward Melody

  1. Select the Ocarina, not your catching instrument.
  2. Open Known Songs. You should see Homeward Melody, a Skip Song toggle, and a Songsheets tab.
  3. Play Left, Down, Up, Left.
  4. Check where you arrived. The destination is your set spawn. If you expected the Grove and landed somewhere else, the song did what it says.

Set your spawn with the NPC near the start of an area before you rely on the return.

Other songs are separate unlocks. Bloomcall opens the Heart of Thorns for Fenna, using the notes the song menu shows. Song of Passage comes from The Scratched Score in Sorin's Respite and is documented as F, S, A, W, F at a sigil door. Do not play Homeward Melody when you meant to open a door.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there SCROOMS codes?

No redeemable code string is documented, and launch guides do not show a redemption button. Catch, sell, and finish quests for Chimes. If a later creator post gives an exact string and the game shows a place to enter it, use that string only.

Who sells the Tamer's Guitar, Julian or Jane?

The opening tutorial uses Julian at a wooden stall for the sale and a 100-Chime guitar. A stall walkthrough names Jane, by a treble-clef sign near the red houses, as the seller of that guitar, the Adventurer's Tambourine, and the Violin of Pilgrimage. Follow the name printed on the prompt in your session.

What notes play Homeward Melody?

On the Ocarina, play Left, Down, Up, Left. The song returns you to the spawn you have set. That is not always the original Grove spawn.

Does Luck show my chance to catch a rare Scroom?

No. Luck is described as rare attraction. A printed +5% or +40% is an equipment value, not a measured chance for a named species.

Is The Undergarden already a released area?

The experience listing names The Undergarden Beneath the Grove for October 24, 2026, with a notify action. That is an announced event. It is not a released patch walkthrough.
